Hello,
I have a couple of questions here:
1) The last digit of the I-94# number is not very clear(Not sure if it is a 3 or 8). What do I write in the 485? Is there any way to find the correct one?
2) I filed the I140 without providing the A#. I understand that when I dont provide one, a new one is generated. And the A# is usually used to link the 485 with the 140. Now when I apply for 485, if I give the A# from my OPT EAD, will it be a problem because a new number will be already generated for I140? Should I write the A# in 485 or just leave it??

1 - if u have any new h1 approval notice after you came to US , then yr i-94 number will be same in approval notice , normally the last i94 and recent aproval notice 194 matches , u can cross check from there

Frist's enforcement only bill will be very popular in the house, but is unlikely to pass the senate. There seems to be quite a few republican senators (Specter, Mccain, Graham, Brownback to name a few) who might vote against any bill which is not "comprehensive". They along with the dems easily have more than 50 votes to block. Now, even if Frist's passes senate, it has to be reconciled with the house version - there are plenty of vocal anti EB folks there and hardly anyone pro. So if push comes to shove, Frist would probably agree to drop the EB provisions and pass rest of the bill , so that he can take credit and hit the '08 presidential campaign trail.
Specter's will easily pass the senate, will be a miracle if it passes the house - senate conference commitee in its present form. The only hope is all the attention will be on the amnesty provisions and negotiations surrounding that, and the EB part of it will fly under the radar.

The option you suggested is best I know but what if I can not do so. (Option of going to canada and then taking up new job on EAD)

I know one can do a re instatment of h1b as long as the h1b is VALID. For example if an applicant's h1b expires in SEP 2011 and he/she joins a co. on EAD today 10th April 2008 but then gets fired on April 15 2009 or his/her GC is denied for w/e reason then he/she can go file for reinstatment of h1b but will have to leave USA and get stamping of h1b from Canda/mexico/home country........

I don't know about Texas, but we live in CA and my wife (dependent on I-485) claimed unemployment benefits for about 3 months last year. We got a notice from EDD (Employment Development Dept) to send them a copy of EAD (for Alien Number) so they can let USCIS know that she has claimed unemployment benefits and if she is eligible in terms of immigration status.
A couple weeks later, we got another letter from EDD saying that after considering the decision from USCIS, you qualify for the unemployment benefits and your compensation per week would be so and so, etc.
(We have no idea what they actually asked USCIS and what USCIS answered them but nevertheless, they had a communication with them.)
Hope it helps.

The education evaluation was done from ITES inc., I have got this for applying H1B in Apr 2005, which includes my prior experience. We have used the same education evaluation for I-140 in Aug'07. Since the experience was combined in my education evaluation, CIS is now asking for a new evaluation based solely on education.

IT in canada is in a bad shape.....very difficult to maintain a good job.....people get citizenship after 3 years...and they move to usa on TN visa...
I agree, IT might be in a bad shape in Canada, and indeed, coming back on a TN visa is indeed shorter than waiting for 6/7 years for a GC, not to mention that one gains self driven job mobility.
