I'd just like to add that it would help to see some examples of the images that you're having problems with. It's quite hard to tell from a description what could have gone wrong (or even if it's perfectley expectable, just that you expected the camera to do something else. I've done that more than once ;-)
Upping the ISO is an obvious solution, so is using a different flash than the built-in one, and using the flash directed at the ceiling (or some other white-ish surface, such as a piece of cardboard). By bouncing the flash, you get a more spread out light, and the picture will not be so harsh.
You can probably also lighten the images somewhat in Photoshop (or whatever photo editing software you like to use). This obviously doesn't work if the image is completely black and you want white walls, but if it's one or two stops short of right, you should be able to get it 'almost' right.
But seeing some pictures of yours would most likely help a whole lot more than talking about them...

Please suggest me good immigration attorney-( in seattle area if possible) for my H1B filing. They should be prompt in preparing my application with in 2 wks time.
My employer called Rajiv S khanna's law firm. Those para legals said they cannt gaurantee timely filing by april 1st. I think its the busiest law firm in this time of the season. cannt find fault with them any ways.
I know I am lagging behind a little bit.
As the clock is ticking, I need to rush up.
Please suggest me
Thanks much in advance

Filed for i140 on march 27th. Upgarded to premium processing on nov 15th. Today is dec 6th and nothing. The reason I filed for i140 thinking, if they have started this process and people are filing, that means the ones who are in regular are going to get pushed behind ever more. But I havent received any reply yet. Will let you'll know when something happens. I check my email atleast 20 times a day hopeing for a reply. GOOD LUCK :)

Hello,
Here is my situation.
a) My I-485 is pending since Aug 2007. I am the beneficiary and my spouse is the primary.
b) The I-94 on my passport states its validity upto Aug 22, 2010. This was stamped using my earlier H1B which was valid upto Aug 2010.
c) I quit my H1B job on Nov 2008 and took another job using EAD. I think this may have invalidated my underlying H1B
d) I didnt apply for any extension of stay or change of status (COS) back in Oct 2008, becuase my I-485 was pending.
e) I have not travelled outside of the country since my last arrival.. (pls see #b)
Recently I came across a memo from USCIS wherein it tries to differentiate betweeen UNLAWFUL STATUS and ACCRUAL of UNLAWFUL PRESENCE. The memo is "Consolidation of Guidance concerning unlawful presence for purposes of sections 212(a)(9)(B)(i) and 212(a)(9)(C)(i)(I) of the act".. and the example on page 9 states this.
"An alien is admitted as a non immigrant, with a form I-94 that expires on Jan 1, 2009. On Oct 5, 2008, he properly files for an application for adjustment of status. He does not, however, file any application to extend his non immigration stay, which expires on Jan 1, 2009. The AOS application is still pending on Jan 2, 2009. On Jan 2, 2009, he becomes subject to removal as a deportable alien under section 237(a)(1)(c) of the act because he has remained after the expiration of his nonimmigrant admission. For purposes of future admissibility, however, the pending adjustment application protects him from the accrual of unlawful PRESENCE
This example got me worried a lot. I am sure most of us always thought that since we have a EAD, we can leave H1 and get another job on EAD while I-485 is pending. I for sure wasn't aware that we are expected to file something to get an extension of stay or change of status.
Now, my questions to our experts are
1. Since I am within my I-94 expiry date., am I in lawful status?
2. Since my H1B (which was used for my I-94) may have been revoked, does it mean that I-94 which I have on my passport is invalidated?
3. I know I am not accruing unlawful presence because of AOS Pending.. but what about status?
4. What should I do now to correct ...? my I-94 expires in another month.
Please help!

my honest opinion on transit visa issues- the best way is to do a quick check on Netherlands website.......rather than only rely on answers on a public forum
http://www.netherlands-embassy.org/visainquiry.asp
Visa Inquiry Result
March 11, 2003
Inquiry date: December 18, 2008
Citizen of: India
Status in US: unlisted status
Resident of: Texas
Travel document: US Re-entry Permit
Duration of stay: less than 12 hours
Purpose of stay: airport transit
First country: Netherlands
Second country: Other
Main destination: other
Based on the above mentioned information the following has been concluded:
an airport transit visa is not required.
Please note that each traveller needs to hold a valid passport with a validity thats exeeds the intended stay by at least 3 months and a return/onward airline ticket. In addition to that, visitors to the Netherlands need to present proof of sufficient funds and medical insurance upon arrival. Travellers should not present a danger to public order or national security.

yes, u need to inform them of every small move u make, all ur life. this holds true even after ur us citizenship is approved.
Friends, I would like to know if I change job after I-140 & I-485 approval, do I still need to notify USCIS about AC-21. Also, will it require my new employer to provide a letter of job duties to confirm that the new job is either same or similar to the old one.
Thanks

I was a student on f1 and had applied and used my OPT period. The OPT card has A#. I am applying I-485 with I-140 pending and have I-140 reciept
Should I use the OPT A# everywhere on the application?
I do not have any other documentation related to my OPT except the expired OPT/EAD card. IS this suffiecnt documentation?
There is question on the I-765 which ask IF i had applied for EAD before. WOuld the answer to this be yes I have used OPT before? If yes what is the location of the USCIS office where I applied. I have no clue about this

I e-filed both my EAD and AP. My EAD has been approved while I just recieved an RFE for Photos for AP. I was under the same assumption and did not send in the photos earlier. I did send it now with the RFE.
My 2 cents, When they ask for something give it to them. I mean if they need to take fingerprints every year with EAD, this is much less stupid.

Blowin in the wind (Bob Dylan).
How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.
How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.
How many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea?
Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head,
Pretending he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

You can simply use the tuition fees deduction on the front of the 1040 return. It will reduce your adjusted gross income. I have been using it for deducting my sons tuition for three years.
Yes, but it can only reduce your taxable income upto $4000. For those who are spending larger amounts towards education in graduate studies lifetime credit in my opinion is better option.

What happens to the GC petition? I guess that is probably also Amit's concern in the long term

It totally depends on how much risk one wants to take. If someone's PD is near to approval he may think about getting back to the same position temporary.
I have a canadian PR so i took the risk of taking unemployment benifits.
you can never know when USCIS would be sending a RFE. We guys have been waiting for a long time or some of them still have to wait for a long time. So calculate the risk
Secondly in my field most of the jobs have been moving to China and i don't think my petitioned job would be in US after 2-4 years.

I thought that manager control rule is for L1 visa, where consultant must work only at direct client site.
It is part of new employer - employee relationship memo. One of my friends has been working for 3 yrs at US Company via 2 layers of vendors. He went for stamping at Delhi 2 months ago. During the interview he was told that his visa has been approved - however a week later his passport arrived with visa denied.
